Image Capture Lab for Ludic Rooms
During the summer of 2022, I was selected as one of two artists to run a three-week creative lab for Ludic Rooms in the Coventry Canal Basin as part of their summer programme, 'Roam + Dwell'. The sessions engaged the public in free cyanotype printing workshops, drawing inspiration from the nature surrounding the canal basin through accessible guided walks and the collecting of found objects.
The participants consisted of both sign-up and drop-in, meaning the sessions were extremely busy and exciting. Many participants commented on how they hadn’t heard of cyanotype printing before and how they were excited to carry on using it at the end of the three-week lab.
Participants of all ages joined the workshops, brining along personal objects and using collected objects & plants from around the canal towpath. As part of these sessions, I printed participants’ personal photographs onto acetate to allow them to re-print their images as cyanotypes. Many personal conversations and stories were shared about who or what featured in these photographs!
